Pacific Call is now available. FebMarch 2015 Pacific Call
The February-March edition contains:

1) 2015 Spring Assembly leaflet
2) Mike Yarrow and the 1964 Freedom Summer. Mike’s 6 letters to friends and family from that summer are now available online and this background article puts the brilliant campaign in perspective. It was a so much more sophisticated and integrated nonviolent direct action campaign than just marching. With a mock election in 1963, building a political party i.e. Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in 1964 and Freedom Schools, it shows us action that we now call “prefigurative” and what Gandhi meant when he said “Means are ends in the making.”

3) The growing and monstrous wealth and income of the United States a form of structural violence that deeply affects the health of Americans, both rich and poor, as measured by the key indicators of infant mortality and life expectancy. This article was written by a professor from the University of Washington department of Global Health.

4) The article on the “Pacific Pivot” and the “Ukrainian Crisis” details how U.S. foreign policy continues to be aggressive and provocative, although the policy makers probably just think a good offense is the best defense. Maybe that works in football, but our foreign policy uses the threat of  nuclear weapons.
