Seattle Women in Black vigil for peace and justice
October 6, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Please note that Seattle Women in Black will stand on the first Thursday of each month only. This is a change from our past vigils which have been held weekly.
All Women are welcome to stand silently with us the first Thursday of each month, 5-6pm, at Westlake Park, wearing black/dark clothes. Men in support of Women in Black are welcome to leaflet or to stand beside the women’s vigil. We stand for justice. We stand for peace.
During the vigil we hand out our flyer to passers by. The topic of the flyer is different each month.
Seattle Women in Black has stood in silence for one hour every week for the past 15 years. Every week, for 780 weeks, one of us has researched and written a flyer. Over these years, our flyers have focused on topics of peace and justice in all aspects of life, local, national, and international. Over these years we have handed out approximately 124,000 flyers.
We have used these flyers to inform about things that can be done to help make changes that are much needed in our world. We have used these flyers to communicate information that is not widely known, information that might contribute to a change in thought or perspective.
