Israeli Miko Peled Speaks on Injustice & Palestine, Tacoma
February 21, 2018 @ 7:00 pm
Weds Feb 21, 7 pm, at Fircrest United Methodist Church, 1018 Columbia Ave. on South 19th, Fircrest (Tacoma); “With Liberty and Justice for All?” Miko Peled, author of The General’s Son: Journey of an Israeli in Palestine, and a brand new book titled Injustice, will speak. Born into an Israeli family that is solidly tied with the political and military elite in Israel, Peled speaks internationally about his journey to solidarity with the Palestinian movement for human rights and civil rights. His unique perspective and outspoken approach make for thought-provoking evenings. His most recent book, Injustice: The Story of the Holy Land Foundation Five, exposes the travesty of justice in 2009 when five Palestinian-Americans were sentenced to 15-65 years for their extraordinary fundraising for Palestinians in need. An example of post- 9/11 governmental over-reach, their good-works were characterized in U.S. Federal Court as material support to Hamas, whereas they intentionally did not give money to any groups on the State Department’s list. Peled has done years of research and shows the absurdity of their conviction. One example: the United States’ Agency for International Development (USAID) was giving money to the same groups!
